Omar Martinez

About Mr. Omar

Omar Martínez is a double bass player and composer. Currently, Omar serves as a graduate assistant for the Master's in Music program at the University of Maryland under the guidance of Anthony Manzo and Richard Barber. Recently having graduated with a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern Mississippi under the guidance of Marcos Machado, Omar has performed with different orchestras and ensembles in México, Canada, and the United States of America.

Originally from Uruapan, Michoacán, México, Omar has previously studied in Las Rosas Conservatory back in Morelia, México. Omar recently earned his first publication to publish his Concerto Mestizo for Bass And Strings, and his music has premiered in México and South America. Besides Classical Music, Omar is comfortable with a wide range of music from folk, rock, Latin jazz, traditional Mexican music, and others.
