Brian Moten

About Mr. Brian

Brian Moten is a trumpet player from Hyattsville, Maryland, and a graduate of Morgan State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in music. During his time at Morgan State, Brian performed with a variety of ensembles, including the marching band, brass quintet, jazz band, jazz combo, and concert ensembles. His musical experiences have included notable performances with the Head Hunters, Esperanza Spalding, and a featured appearance with the university jazz combo at the Monterey Jazz Festival.


In addition to his work at RSM, Brian teaches trumpet and trombone to DCYOP students at John Lewis Elementary School. He is also an active freelance musician, performing in a wide range of styles including jazz, funk, classical, and musical theatre.


Brian brings a passion for music education and performance to his teaching and is dedicated to helping students grow as both musicians and artists.
