Al Rise
About Mr. Al
Al Rise is a Horn Player serving the greater DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia areas. He began his studies in his hometown of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, with Mary Beth Orr, the current 3rd horn player in the Grand Rapids Symphony. He soloed in Highschool with the Midland Community Orchestra, the Chemical City Band, and in college with the Cleveland Institute of Music Baroque Ensemble. He received his bachelor's degree in horn performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under the tutelage of former principal horn of The Cleveland Orchestra, Richard King. He has also attended Interlochen Arts Camp, Aspen Music Festival and School, and participated in the 2013 International Horn Competition of America. Most recently, Rise received his master’s degree from the University of Maryland, studying with Greg Miller and Phil Munds. He currently performs with the Landon Symphonette and the Apollo Orchestra, and is a substitute player with the Arlington Philharmonic, the Annapolis Symphony, and the Battle Creek Symphony.
