Tom Monaco

About Mr. Tom

Tom Monaco grew up in the Hyattsville, MD area and studied with renowned musicians Fred Karns, Bill Biesecker, and Michael Decker. He holds a BA in Music from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Master’s in Music Education from Towson University.


Throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, Mr. Tom performed in a wide variety of settings and ensembles, encompassing classical, jazz, popular music, shows, and solo performances. His work included appearances at theaters in Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Hershey, PA, as well as corporate events, private and public parties, gatherings, and concerts. Mr. Tom collaborated with top musical contractors and operated his own private booking agency. He has shared the stage with artists such as Larry Gatlin, Debbie Gibson, Marilyn McCoo, David Cassidy, Petula Clark, Barbara Mandrell, and Jack Jones. He performed in the "Christmas in Washington" TV special in 1987. From 2000 to 2010, he played electric bass as well as classical, electric, and acoustic guitars with the Chapelgate Praise Orchestra. Most recently, he performed with the Regeneration Jazz Band.


Mr. Tom has taught at Prince George's Community College, the University of the District of Columbia, the Jewish Community Center School of Music, Ottley Music School, and his own private studio. He is proud to now be a member of the faculty at the Richardson School of Music.
