Jacob Botelho
About Mr. Jacob
Jacob Botelho is a guitarist and bassist from the South Coast of Massachusetts, bringing over twelve years of experience to his students.
He attended American University, earning a B.A. in International Relations. During his time at American University, he also studied jazz guitar and bass performance. He has played in multiple jazz combos and orchestras around the DMV and southern New England. He has also done session work with many musicians in these areas.
Jacob has taught music lessons independently for two years, working with students from different backgrounds and creating long-term lesson plans that fit the learning styles of each individual student. He has taught students ranging in age from six to sixty, and aims to teach guitar and bass in a way that fosters a deep understanding of both music theory and performance skills.
Aside from music, Jacob’s passion is working with youth and will soon begin a master’s program in secondary education. He has worked in D.C. public schools and has taught ESL classes to refugees in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
Jacob’s greatest musical influences on guitar and bass are Wes Montgomery and James Jamerson, respectively. For fun, Jacob loves learning languages, and is conversational in both Levantine Arabic and Portuguese.
