Ivan Navas

About Mr. Ivan

Ivan Navas is a multi-instrumentalist and an educator who specializes in Afro and Pan-American music. He is a native Washingtonian and proud son of Salvadoran parents raised in Mt. Pleasant Adams Morgan Community. His development as a musician was influenced by living with diverse neighbors from Central and South America, the Caribbean and American Blacks. A graduate of Howard University with a specialization on the African Diaspora in the Caribbean and the Americas. He has played with local and international artists as a musician, Director, and global ambassador. He has organized many cross-musical/cross-cultural exchanges with musicians from the Americas and beyond. Ivan’s global musical multicultural understandings allows him to bridge our families respectfully and fluidly across the globe using the majestic Drum as his powerful voice.
