About Ms. Gaby

Violinist Gaby Echiverri is a first-year Master's student at the University of Maryland, where she is studying violin performance under Dr. James Stern. She is one of the violinists in the UMD Graduate String Quartet fellowship program. Gaby graduated in May 2025 from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with a dual degree in Violin Performance and Media and Communication Studies. She was the concertmaster of the UMBC Orchestra in 2021-2023 and performed the third movement of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the orchestra after winning the Concerto Competition in Spring 2022. In Spring 2023, she participated in an exchange program and studied at the Conservatorio G. Nicolini in Italy, where she also performed at the Trame Sonore Chamber Music Festival. With over five years of teaching experience, Gaby has taught violin privately, at the Community College of Baltimore County, and at the Center of Help in Annapolis. Her teaching style utilizes self-evaluation as a tool to foster independence in her students and create a more interactive learning experience, as she guides her students in assessing their playing and applying their knowledge. She is particularly dedicated to cultivating a growth mindset in her students, encouraging them to view challenges as opportunities for improvement.
