Akeem Lipford

Akeem's Bio

Akeem Lipford grew up in Goldsboro, North Carolina where he began studying piano and composition at age 10 with Ms. Estine, who at the time was the first lady of The Lord’s Table Church. From an early age, Akeem knew music was something he wanted to do in life. He performed in local and state competitions performing his own piano solos along side the work of Chopin, and in high school Akeem became a marching band arranger under the mentorship of his high school’s assistant band director.

In college Akeem developed a passion for teaching. His first teaching experience was at a Salvation Army Summer Music Conservatory in 2012 where he taught group piano classes for kids. This started Akeem down a road where he would later volunteer teaching piano during the school year, teach also at a local studio, become a graduate assistant, commit a year of service teaching as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, and teach at community colleges across the Carolinas.

Akeem enjoys making small musical experiences with his friends, students, and loved ones. The subjects of his compositions often highlight the passions of the heart and is set to experimental temporality.
