Robert Coleman

Robert's Bio

Robert Coleman graduated from the University of Maryland in 2015 with a Bachelor of Music degree in jazz guitar performance. He started teaching private guitar lessons while still attending the university and has continued to teach students of all ages and skill levels ever since. Robert has performed as both a leader and a sideman in many groups in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area over the last decade and makes his living in part as a freelance guitarist and bassist. These playing situations have provided Robert with a wealth of experience in styles of music ranging from Traditional Jazz and Bebop to Blues, Rock, and Heavy Metal.

Robert’s mission as an educator is to give his students the tools they need to make their own musical discoveries and advance along their own artistic paths. His philosophy is that teaching music is not a one size fits all process and that lessons should be personalized as much as possible to fit each student’s individual needs.
