Summer Program FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

 

How do I register?

Download the 2017 Summer Music Exploration Program registration form and fax (Fax 301-660-4262) or e-mail your completed registration form to summerprogram@richardsonschoolofmusic.com (please be sure to rename and save your file before sending). Your registration fee and tuition deposit can be paid online (via electronic invoice sent to you from RSM by e-mail) or in-person. If you are unable to download the registration form, please e-mail us at summerprogram@richardsonschoolofmusic.com. You may also register in-person. Please call 301-660-4455 or e-mail us at summerprogram@richardsonschoolofmusic.com to schedule a registration appointment.

 What payment methods to you accept?

We accept Cash, Check, Money Order, MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

How much does the Summer Program Cost?

$375 per week after March 1st. If you register before March 1st the cost for returning and current RSM students is $262.50 per week.  For new students registering before March 1st the cost is $281.25 per week. Please note: There is a $35 non-refundable registration fee and a $75 non-refundable deposit.

Does the $75 deposit go towards tuition?

Yes.

When is payment due?

All payments are due before May 15th. If you would like to take advantage of the early registration discount, full payment is due at registration.

Do you have any discounts?

Yes. We offer a sibling discount. 10% off tuition for one sibling. We also have an early registration discount (30% off for current RSM students and returning Summer Program students and 25% off for all new students).

Do you have any special promotions or a referral bonus? 

Yes. Receive one week of free tuition when you get 3 friends to enroll and attend at least one week of the Summer Program. Your 3 friends must be listed on your registration form when you register. Friends cannot be duplicated/listed by more than one person.

My child is 5 yo but turning 6 this year, can he/she still attend? 

Yes. Please call or e-mail us.

I can only attend the second week of Session I and the last week of Session II. Can I only attend those weeks?

Yes. You may choose to attend any combination of weeks you prefer.

Is Lunch provided?

No. Lunch is not provided. Please pack a non-perishable lunch and snack as well as a bottle for water.

Do the children go outside?

Yes. If the weather permits, we spend our recess at the Opal A. Daniels Neighborhood Park or the Jackson-Boyd Daniels Neighborhood Park.

Do you go on field trips?

Yes. We typically go on a field trip once a week. All field trips are music centered.
For example:
Taking a tour of Kennedy Center
Attending a performance at the Strathmore

There is an additional fee for field trips. We travel to our field trips by Metro or Lyft.

Do I select one instrument for my child to learn this summer?

No need. Your child will be able to participate in all activities and explore all instruments offered. Please do let us know if a particular instrument interests him or her. Our program is a great way for your child to explore several different instruments. We are happy to have a consult with you after you complete the Summer Program. We can help you determine which instrument suits your child best for continued study.

I will miss one day of the week, do you prorate?

We bill by the week. Missed days are not prorated.
