How do I register for lessons?

You can register for lessons in person, by phone, e-mail, or fax. Once you have set up a lesson time with the RSM office, you are required to pay a one-time registration fee of $25. This fee holds your lesson time until the tuition payment is processed.

 

How do I pay for lessons?

RSM operates on a session basis. Each session includes 8-10 lessons depending on your lesson day. Once you’ve registered, tuition is due by or before your first lesson. Tuition is paid by the session. Students that register after the session start day will be pro-rated for the remaining lessons in the session. For current students, payment is always due by or before your last lesson day of the session. We accept cash, check, or credit/debit card.  There is a 3.5% transaction fee for credit/debit card payments made by phone and a 3% transaction fee for online payments.

RSM is open 7 days a week for private and group instruction
between the hours of 7am-9pm. 

 

What is your make-up policy?

Each student is allotted one make up lesson per session. The RSM office must be notified at least 24 hrs in advance of any changes in schedule. “Day-of” cancellations are not subject to make-up lessons and will be charged. RSM is not obligated to make-up lessons or classes due to student non-attendance, illness, vacation, or inclement weather.  Lessons canceled by RSM due to faculty schedule conflicts are rescheduled or a sub will be provided.  The Richardson School of Music reserves the right to substitute faculty when necessary.

What is your school-closing policy?

In the event of inclement weather, The Richardson School of Music makes decisions regarding closure independently of local school districts. For school closure information please view: www.richardsonschoolofmusic.com or call (301) 660-4455 (if RSM is closed, you will hear a school closure announcement).

What do I need for my first lesson?

We recommend that students bring their own instrument (if available), a notebook to write assignments, and any books you may have from previous instruction. If you are a brand new student, just bring your notebook and willingness to learn and have fun!
